KP Comics Studios attended the official press conference for the we are SNEAKER AGES Thailand Band Competition 2026, held on 10 July 2026. This is a national music competition for secondary school students organized by Siam Music Yamaha, under Siam Motor Group, in partnership with miki music mirai, a Japanese music organization that has been developing young musicians across Asia for decades. KP Comics Studios is glad to be a part of this event as the studio behind the anime-style key visual artwork and intro-animation for this competition.
What the competition is about
This isn't a standard music contest. The vision behind it goes further than finding the best band in the country. Siam Music Yamaha has been clear that the purpose is to build a genuine music community, one where students and teachers across Thailand can connect, exchange, and grow together through music. Prize support is structured to benefit not just the winning students but their schools as well, so the competition leaves a lasting impact on music education wherever it reaches.
The competition is also a milestone for Siam Music Yamaha, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. Thailand is only the second country outside Japan to host this program, one that originally started in Japan in the late 1970s and has been running continuously ever since. Bringing it to Thailand reflects real confidence in the country's music scene and in what Thai youth can achieve on an international stage.
The competition is open to secondary school student bands from across Thailand. The winning band earns a place at the Asia Grand Final in Osaka, Japan on 27 October 2026, competing alongside bands from across the region.
How to enter
Bands of 3 to 8 members from the same school can register and submit an entry video online. All performances are fully live, no backing tracks permitted, and bands may perform cover songs or original compositions. The submission window runs until 19 August 2026, with regional semifinals in September and the Thailand Grand Final taking place on 10 October 2026 at CentralWorld, Bangkok as a full live concert event.
